Voter registration campaigns urged students to make their voice heard during the 2022 midterm elections.

ISLA VISTA, Calif. — Student voters throughout the area lined the streets of Isla Vista and UC Santa Barbara’s campus as midterm election voting concluded on Tuesday.
For the past month leading up to the election, UCSB’s Gauchos Vote Coalition participated in efforts to increase voter registration among students through tabling, partnerships and a “ballot party” meant to educate voters on initiatives and candidates on the ballot.
A crucial part of these efforts was the movement of the official drop box location. In previous years, the drop box was located at the Isla Vista Foot Patrol Station but moved to the Student Resource Building in order to increase voting accessibility for students.
While projected winners for the election were announced shortly after the polls closed on Nov. 8, remaining mail-in ballots postmarked by Election Day will still be counted through November 15 and final results will be certified in early December.
If you would like to track your ballot, you can sign up for WheresMyBallot online in order to track and receive notifications on the status of your mail-in ballot.
