ISLA VISTA, Calif. — The screening started with Jose Hernandez speaking about his father’s “6 ingredient” steps to being successful. Hernandez discussed his addition of the seventh ingredient of perseverance . This is after applying for NASA 11 times before being accepted for a mission. The screening emphasized the importance of having a dream and putting in the work to get there.
