ISLA VISTA, Calif. — The Haley Street Navigation Center, Santa Barbara’s first homeless facility for young adults ages 17-24, opened its doors for the first time on January 30th.

In the past, young adults have been disadvantaged in finding resources tailored toward serving their specific demographic. However, the Haley Street Navigation Center represents increased aid and representation of young adults experiencing homelessness.

The organization provides basic resources such as food and clothing to young adults experiencing homelessness and plans on eventually serving as many as 250 youths per year.

The Haley Street Navigation Center is located at 701 East Haley Street and will be open for drop-in services seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Zuri Wilson spoke with Amy Tovias and Jaan Landheer – two directors at the center – along with DignityMoves Regional Executive Director, Matt Riley about the resources offered at the center and the issue of homelessness in Santa Barbara.
